Can't Do It Yet.

Leo the Late Bloomer - Robert Kraus, José Aruego

In Leo the Late Bloomer, Leo is sad because he can't read, write, or eat neatly like his friends. His parents notice something is wrong with Leo, but Leo is just a late bloomer. With love and encouragement from his parents, Leo is able to achieve what his friends are able to do. This story shows students that if you work hard, you can achieve anything like Leo. I would share this story at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Students will write about what they want to accomplish and how it will be accomplished through the year. At each point I share the story, students will write how their goal is progressing and if they see a change in themselves.
